Make your voice heard on or before Election Day!

The referendum is a community-wide decision. Eligible district residents can vote early between September 22 and November 6 or cast their ballot on Election Day, November 7.

You must be registered to vote to cast your ballot. If you are not yet registered to vote, you can register online here.

You can also register in person at your polling location on Election Day. Simply bring a valid ID and proof of residence. A full list of accepted documents for registration can be found here.

There will be three ways to vote. Read on to find the option that works best for you!

ALL EARLY VOTING FOR THE REFERENDUM WILL BE FACILITATED BY THE PENNINGTON COUNTY AUDITOR’S OFFICE. THIS INCLUDES EARLY VOTING FOR DISTRICT RESIDENTS WHO LIVE IN MARSHALL COUNTY AND RED LAKE COUNTY.

Option 1: Vote early by mail Sept. 22 through Nov. 7

If you are an eligible voter within Thief River Falls School District, you can request an absentee ballot by filling out the form found here and mailing it to the Pennington County auditor’s office. Requested absentee ballots will be mailed out beginning Friday, September 22.

Marked absentee ballots must be submitted in person or by mail to the Pennington County auditor’s office. Ballots must be received by no later than 3:00p.m. on Tuesday, November 7 to be counted.

Option 2: Vote early in person Sept. 22 through Nov. 6

Thief River Falls School District residents can vote early in-person from 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. at the Pennington County Auditor’s office:

The auditor’s office will be open for extended voting hours:

  • Saturday, November 4, 2023 from 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.

  • Monday, November 6, 2023 from 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

Option 3: : Vote in person on Election Day

Election Day is Tuesday, November 7. All residents will vote at Ralph Engelstad Arena. Polls will be open 7:00 a.m.-8:00 p.m.

 

You must be registered to vote to cast your ballot.  If you forget to register before Election Day, Minnesota allows same-day voter registration.
